Programme of the international conference: Migration and European Integration of Minorities
The project of Maastrich University, entitled „The First European Presidential Debate” offers in this period to the young europeans the occasion to actively involve in the electoral process, which runs inside the European Union. The action has the support of 50 academic institutions, Romania being represented by the University of Oradea (Faculty of History, International Relations, Political Science and Science of Communcation) and University „Babeș-Bolyai” from Cluj-Napoca (Doctoral School of International Relations and European Studies). The candidates for the presidency of the European Comission, Jean-Claude Juncker (European People’s Party), Martin Schulz (Party of European Socialists), Guy Verhofstadt (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party) and Ska Keller (European Green Party) will respond to the European students questions, the main subjects being the unemployment, education and young’s implications in politics.
Within this project the students from IRSE formulated question and finally 5 base question concerning the European youth will be drafted and be addressed to the candidates during the transmission.
The debate will be broadcast live from 20:00 on Euronews and on-line on www.eudebate2014.eu/. During the broadcast, users can post comments on Twitter and Facebook.
Between 04 – 09 May 2014, a field trip application was organized in which participated students of 2nd year from the International Relation and European Studies and Security Studies specialization.
The field trip application covered the following route: Oradea – Deva – Sibiu – Curtea de Arges – Bucuresti – Constanta – Bucuresti – Predeal – Brasov – Sighisoara – Oradea.
The main objective of this application was to offer the students the possibility to visit and be acquainted with different state institutions, like the Romanian Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of European Funds and to acknowledge the realities of the legislative and executive machinations.
During the official meeting held at the Romanian Parliament, students had the opportunity to meet the senator Florian Bodog, the Minister of Health Bănicioiu Nicolae and to assist a public consultation between the Ministry of Health and differend NGOs that represented the civil society.
The second day of official meetings had as a main objective the presentation of certain aspects of diplomacy and European policies. So, it was wisited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of European Funds.
At their arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the students were welcomed by Ioana Bivolaru, CEO of the European Union department within the MFA and by Bogdan Stănescu, CEO of Consular Department.
During the meeting they covered subject of interest concerning the Foreign Affairs, carrier opportunities within MFA and answered student’s questions.
At the Ministry of European Funds the students were greeted by Alin Sorin Mitrică, state secretary within the Ministry and by Minister Eugen Teodorovici. During this meeting the students were presented the new stage of development 2014 – 2020 and a few of Romania’s strategies for a better EU funds absorption
Besides the official meetings, the field trip application offered the students the occasion to visit different cities and touristic attraction, from which we mention Deva Citadel, Sibiu’s old center, Monastery of Cozia, Vidraru Dam, Curtea de Argeș Monastery, Romanian Parliament, Mamaia Resort, the seafront and Aquarium from Constanța, Bucharest’s old center, Bucegi plateau, Peleș Castle, city of Brașov, city of Sighișoara, etc.
This field trip application offered the students the environment for socialization, being a perfect getaway from their daily college routine and offered also a perfect team-building before the final exams.
